Portfolio, the Hungarian online economic journal drew up the Real Estate Top50 2022 list featuring the most influential players in the domestic real estate market. 115 names have been included in the list over the past 7 years, beside the 10 newcomers 18 members of this year’s 50 have been among the top every year so far.
This year’s top-team
Each year, it is a challenging task to find the most influential players in the Hungarian real estate market and professionals with close ties to the industry. The authors admitted that this year was no different, “because even in a time of war and economic problems, there is a constant flow of new players, new appointments, mergers and restructuring” – writes fmbusiness.hu referring to portfolio.hu.
There is an overlap between this year’s and last year’s players, but only 18 of the listed professionals have made it into the Top 50 every year since the beginning – in 2016. The gender ratio seems to have stagnated, with a total of 4 women in the Top 10 this year, compared to 5 last year. The authors of the list are confident that the trend will reverse and that more and more women will be able to hold senior positions at the top of the most important companies in the domestic real estate market in the coming years.
In addition to the office, retail, industrial and investment teams and leaders of consultancy firms, the extra lists linked to the Top 50 feature the most prominent lawyers in the profession.
How experts foresee the future
The list’s authors believe that “the important fundamentals in the region are strong, stable and that the market players have or will have the answers to the difficulties that have arisen”. Although this year has started well in terms of developments, the real estate market has been hit hard by the energy crisis and inflation. Experts are expecting a difficult year with price rises and losses, but they are not preparing for a general collapse. They believe that in every situation there is a good strategy, there is a challenge, and it is possible to emerge successfully and stronger from times of crisis.
