LIWO Group has outlined its sustainability priorities through 2030, covering carbon reduction, greener operations, employee development and ESG governance. The facility management group plans to combine environmental targets with workforce investment, technological development and more structured sustainability oversight.

The strategy accompanies LIWO Group’s first consolidated Sustainability Report and Sustainability Strategy, prepared in line with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Eight interconnected pillars form the basis of the Group’s approach, spanning environmental impact, workforce development and responsible corporate governance.

Reducing the Environmental Footprint

According to the original article published by XpatLoop, LIWO Group intends to introduce carbon reduction targets, develop a climate transition plan and gradually increase its use of green energy. The Group also plans to implement ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 50001 energy management systems across its operations.

LIWO Group also aims to use its services to help clients improve energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprints, while supporting suppliers in making their operations more sustainable. By 2030, environmentally friendly cleaning product refills are targeted to account for more than 20%, alongside efforts to minimise hazardous substances, increase waste recovery and reduce material and packaging use.

LIWO views transparent, efficient and sustainable operations as both a corporate choice and an expectation from investors, partners and the market.

“Transparent, efficient and sustainable operations are not only a conscious choice on our part, but also an expectation from our investors, partners and the market alike. Our first voluntary sustainability report marks an important milestone in our journey to advance our sustainability efforts across the Group within a unified framework and against measurable targets,” said Ferenc Kis-Szölgyémi, CEO of LIWO Group.

Investing in Employees

LIWO Group’s workforce is central to the strategy. The Group plans to introduce role-based training, structured onboarding and talent management programmes, together with university and internship partnerships. Its 2025 Sustainability Report states that LIWO employed nearly 28,800 people during the reporting period and delivered more than 63,000 hours of training.

Health and safety is another priority. By 2030, LIWO plans to implement ISO 45001 across its operations, supported by an auditable occupational safety training system, regular health screening programmes and enhanced workplace safety processes.

The Group also plans to strengthen equal opportunities and diversity by assessing and harmonising employee benefit systems and supporting disadvantaged employees and people with reduced working capacity. LIWO will also prepare for implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive.

Technology Supporting Sustainability

LIWO sees technological development as an important element of more efficient and sustainable facility management. Its technologies include robotic cleaning, UV-C disinfection and data-driven facility management and hygiene systems, with automation, digitalisation and data-driven operations expected to play an increasing role.

Strengthening ESG Governance

LIWO aims to make sustainability an integral part of its operations in the coming years. The Group will establish a unified reporting system and supplier due diligence framework and gradually integrate sustainability targets into management performance evaluations and incentive schemes. It also plans to establish an ESG Committee.
