Romanian developer partners with Radisson Hotel Group for 5-star villa resort

FM newsroom – real estate development, hotels. Real estate developer Grand Development has closed a partnership with Radisson Hotel Group to open a five-star villa resort near the popular mountain city of Brașov under the upper-scale Radisson Blu brand.

Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort is already under construction on a 2.6-hectare mountain meadow near Brașov, in the immediate vicinity of a secular forest in the Carpathian Mountains. The opening date is set for the last quarter of 2026, Romania Insider reports.

5-star attractions

The project will comprise 46 Scandinavian chalet-style villas, both individual and joined, with large spaces, premium amenities, and multiple individual facilities, plus 20 hotel rooms, all with a five-star rating. It will also include an open-kitchen restaurant, a spa centre with an interior pool, a wellness and fitness centre, several conference rooms, and parking spaces.

“We see a huge potential in the Romanian market. We use our experience in the field of hospitality to build hotels and accommodation spaces in attractive holiday destinations. This new and unique Radisson Blu project, located in a highly sought-after mountain destination, is the perfect addition to our existing portfolio in Romania and will offer our guests a wide variety of options”, said David Jenkins, Vice President of Business Development Radisson Hotel Group.

Benchmark resort for the area

Grand Design founder Ionuț Nicolescu works on the projects with real estate consultant Cremona Maria-Andrei and Alexandru Boghiu, founding partner of Mavers Wealth Management, a venture capital firm focused on supporting exceptional entrepreneurs in the digital sectors. The project also benefits from the support of Mircea Draghici, one of the most experienced consultants in the hospitality industry, with over 20 years of experience in the profile market.

“We have created a unique concept at the national level, which combines an exceptional location in the middle of nature but also close to all the tourist attractions in the Brasov region, a unique retreat of Scandinavian chalet-type villas, with large glazed spaces, as well as a multitude of facilities and options for relaxation and spending free time, resulting in an integrated tourist concept. Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort Braşov will be a benchmark for the area and Romania and will increase the visibility of the Braşov area among international tourists,” – said Ionuţ Nicolescu, founder of Grand Development.

Radisson Blu is an upper-upscale hotel brand. In Romania, there are three Radisson Blu hotels in Bucharest, Brașov, and Cluj-Napoca. The Radisson Hotel Group has 7 hotels with 1,657 rooms in operation or under development in Romania under the Park Inn by Radisson, Radisson, and Radisson Blu brands.
