FM newsroom – sustainable FM. The implementation of the WasteTracker system in 11 buildings owned by Globalworth Poland represents a significant step in transforming the Polish industry towards a circular economy. Data from the first quarter of 2025 illustrates not only the scale of the project but also its practical application by tenants.

Comprehensive waste management in buildings faces tangible challenges. To more effectively manage this area, Globalworth Poland, an owner and manager of office properties, partnered with the startup WasteTracker. The company developed an intelligent waste monitoring system that allows for the tracking and documentation of waste streams by weight. This tool plays a key role in the sustainable management of buildings in the Globalworth Poland portfolio. WasteTracker, a combination of a weighing terminal with employee access cards and an advanced analytical system, creates an ecosystem that enables waste reduction, increased sorting, and the setting of KPIs, according to the official announcement.

“The registration of 215 tenants in the system, while 377 companies have access to monitor waste production, demonstrates the high adoption of the technology by the business community in Globalworth buildings. Notably, the 2,188 waste registrations in the first quarter of 2025 translate to an average of 24 registrations per day across 11 properties. These numbers prove that the system is not just another application, but is truly used for daily waste monitoring and management,” comments Przemysław Kiwer, Property Management Director, Southern Poland, Globalworth Poland.

Boosting ESG Reporting with Reliable Waste Data

Implementing the system in the Globalworth Poland portfolio is particularly important in the context of increasing regulatory requirements, including Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) reporting.

“The ability to accurately measure and visualise the weight of all fractions provides tenants with the specific data necessary for reliable ESG reporting, reducing waste generation, and increasing the share of waste sorted into fractions. This solves a problem faced by most companies: the lack of reliable data on their waste production,” comments Bartosz Marcol, Sustainability & ESG Manager, Globalworth Poland.

From Data to Strategy: Unlocking Zero Waste Potential

WasteTracker’s key value lies in its diagnostic and strategic capabilities. The system enables tenants to consciously manage waste based on actual data, not estimates. The ability to analyse waste structure by fraction allows for the setting of ambitious yet achievable waste management goals and the adaptation of a Zero Waste strategy to the specific needs of the company.

Globalworth Poland’s decision to implement an innovative waste management system positions the company as a leader in sustainable development in the Polish commercial real estate market. The property manager plans to roll out the system to other properties soon. In an era of growing regulatory pressure and tenant expectations for environmentally friendly solutions, such initiatives are becoming not only a matter of social responsibility but also a key competitive factor.

“Data from the first quarter of 2025 confirms that the implementation of the WasteTracker system in Globalworth Poland buildings is not just a symbolic gesture, but a practical tool actively used by tenants to optimise waste management and achieve sustainable development goals,” adds Przemysław Kiwer, Property Management Director, Southern Poland, Globalworth Poland.

Setting a New Standard for Sustainable Property Management

Monitoring and responsible waste management in office buildings is a crucial element of a sustainable building management strategy. Regular waste stream analysis not only reduces the amount of waste going to landfills but also lowers operating costs, reduces the carbon footprint, and increases tenants’ environmental awareness.

“In the context of ESG goals and growing regulatory requirements, implementing effective waste sorting, recovery, and reporting systems is becoming an essential standard for modern office buildings,” says Alicja Kuczera, Managing Director at PLGBC.
