Becoming an international player – B+N Reference Zrt’s journey through HR Lens

FM newsroom – corporate news, HR. On Trend FM, László Nagy, HR Director of B+N Referencia Zrt., spoke with András Érczfalvi about the HR challenges and opportunities that B+N Zrt. faces as an international company operating in nine countries and employing nearly 30,000 people. The conversation focused on the HR aspects of facilities management – that is, how to effectively organize, retain and develop thousands of employees who are typically blue-collar workers.

The challenges of growth

The rapid development of B+N through foreign acquisitions has made the company a significant regional integrated FM service provider. The company considers it important to provide legal, transparent employment conditions, which its customers also expect.

HR in focus: retention and appreciation

László Nagy emphasized that people working in cleaning and maintenance positions often come from socially difficult situations. Of course, salary is also important, but the greatest motivation for these people is often the human attitude, care and appreciation. The role of direct managers is highlighted – there is lower fluctuation where employees are truly appreciated. The company, therefore, pays great attention to the human competencies of managers.

Innovation and sustainability in cleaning

B+N is proud to have its own R&D division, which develops, among other things, autonomous cleaning robots called ROBIN. These robots do not take away work, but create tasks with higher added value. In addition, the research also extends to the environmentally friendly development of the materials used, supporting ESG and sustainability aspects.

Labour market challenges and vision

The proportion of the working-age population in the region, and also the interest in manual jobs, is decreasing. Nevertheless, B+N treats it as a strategic goal to give these positions social recognition and offer a career path.

Their recruitment strategy also includes a recommendation system, building local relationships, and cooperation with educational institutions.

At the end of the conversation, László Nagy highlighted that whether it is an elite art university or cleaning work, the key is always “sensitivity and care”. B+N’s strategy is based on this – creating business and social value.
