FM newsroom – green energy, airport, Romania. The director of Iași Airport, Romeo Vatră, announced that the facility managed to submit the financing request for the second photovoltaic park. The project is approved as an emergency by the County Council.
A new photovoltaic park spanning five hectares is set to be constructed at Iași Airport, Romania. The project represents a €3 million investment and aims to achieve energy independence for the airport, Green Forum reports.
Romeo Vatră pointed out thatthe project is worth €3 million without VAT, of which one million euros represents non-refundable financing through the Modernization Fund. Co-financing and ineligible costs will be covered by the funds of the Iași airport.

“The photovoltaic park will have 5 MWh, on an area of five hectares, with storage units of 2 MW. It will be complementary to the existing one of 1 MWh, which has been operational since the fall of 2023. The two parks will help the airport become energy independent, using green energy” – Romeo Vatră, director of Iasi Airport told Economedia.ro.
