Nearly 55% of employees in Romania feel tired or overworked daily or several times a week, according to a survey by Genesis Property. The findings highlight growing workplace pressures and changing expectations of office environments.
The survey reveals that only 12.5% rated their professional energy levels as very good, while more than 16% reported frequently feeling exhausted, burned out or close to burnout.
Workload and Financial Pressures Drive Fatigue
Heavy workloads are the leading source of energy loss, cited by 20.4% of respondents. Economic uncertainty follows at 15.9%, while 15.4% identify personal financial pressures.
Financial concerns also affect employees’ sense of job security, with 23% reporting increased stress and fatigue due to these pressures. Meanwhile, more than 33% identify insufficient time or energy as their main obstacle to professional development, Business Forum reports.
Offices Must Support More Than Productivity
Employee expectations are extending beyond traditional office functions. Nearly 20% see the office primarily as a place for focus and productivity, while 19.24% prioritise collaboration and connection, and 17.54% value creativity and the exchange of ideas.
Teodor Stoica, HR Manager at Genesis Property, emphasised that office environments must support concentration, collaboration and opportunities to recharge, rather than simply provide functional working space.
Genesis Property is incorporating wellbeing-focused facilities into its developments to reflect changing employee needs. Its YUNITY Park office project in Bucharest’s Pipera area includes green spaces, relaxation areas and community facilities, with total investment exceeding €50 million.
The company owns and manages two business campuses in Bucharest, YUNITY Park and West Gate Business District, covering a combined area of more than 150,000 sq m.
The survey was conducted in July 2026 among 1,026 internet users in Romania.
