FM newsroom – revitalisation, renovation. Hala Gwardii is officially set for revitalisation. CBR Events has entered into a public-private partnership with the City of Warsaw to renovate and manage the historic hall. As confirmed by Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with completion expected in the first half of 2027.

During the signing ceremony, Trzaskowski emphasised the cultural and historical significance of the site.

“After the modernisation of Hala Mirowska, it’s time for Hala Gwardii. This is a historic space, important to the city and to all of us,” he told Propertynews.pl.

The mayor also noted that the project is part of a larger plan to transform central Warsaw. Alongside the renovation of the hall, Wielopole Square will be redesigned, including the construction of an underground parking facility and the restoration of the surrounding public space.

“We want Hala Gwardii to maintain its unique character and remain accessible to residents regardless of their budget. We also remain in close dialogue with the merchants who have long been connected to this place. I shop here myself,” Trzaskowski assured.

Once the hall is completed in 2027, work will continue on related infrastructure. The underground parking structure and new layout of Wielopole Square are expected to be finished by 2029.

A Place With a Century of History

At the turn of the 20th century, Hala Mirowska and Hala Gwardii were considered the commercial hubs of Warsaw. More than 500 stalls selling food and household goods brought order to what had previously been open-street trade, introducing modern, organised marketplaces to the city.

After World War II, Hala Gwardii took on a new identity. As the home of the Gwardia sports club, it became one of the most recognisable sporting venues of the Polish People’s Republic—famous for its boxing matches, tournaments and competitions that drew enthusiastic crowds.

In recent years, after a period of neglect, the hall once again won the hearts of locals—this time as an atmospheric food hall filled with artisan products, markets, and events. It quickly became a favourite weekend spot for families and visitors alike.

With its upcoming revitalisation, Hala Gwardii is set to revive yet another chapter of its story—rooted in history, but looking firmly toward the future.
