Etele Plaza received BREEAM Very Good certification in the retail category. The development of Futureal is the first shopping centre in Hungary, which, with its sustainable solutions, earned one of the highest environmentally conscious building certifications even in the construction phase – HUGBC reports.
In accordance with the strict requirements of BREEAM, Etele Plaza paid special attention to ensuring easy access, minimizing light pollution and direct environmental load, incorporating durable materials and promoting the reuse of waste. The tenants also strove for sustainability when building the stores. In the environmentally friendly shopping and entertainment centre, a green area of nearly 4,000 sqm has been created, where colourful vegetation, ornamental grasses, shrubs and trees await the public.
“Stay Safe” with the latest innovations
The safety of the visitors and the protection of their health are also served by the most modern devices. In accordance with Futureal’s “Stay Safe” initiative, the interiors are almost completely touch-free wherever possible. The air-conditioning system’s UV-lamp germicidal filter units destroy almost 100 per cent of airborne viruses and bacteria in seconds without the use of disinfectant chemicals. Disinfection points are available in the busiest areas and in the washrooms. The rubber bands of the escalators are continuously disinfected during movement by a built-in device for maximum safety. You can use the toilets without touching them.
“Environmentally conscious and people-oriented operation played a central role in the development of the new generation Etele Plaza. Accordingly, we implemented the most modern technical solutions, with which the building brought a new era of shopping centres to Hungary,”- Dóra Borsos-Vámosi, co-director of Etele Plaza emphasized.
A green mall with smart solutions
Etele Plaza, with 55,000 m2 of leasable retail space, is also the country’s first smart mall, offering a personalized customer experience thanks to its mobile application and cloud-based services.
With the green roof of the spacious restaurant level and direct connection to the terrace, the complex displays the latest shopping centre design. In addition to the shops, there are grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, a fitness room, a children’s playhouse and a wide range of services.
