“We can keep up with the growing traffic at the airport”

FM newsroom – cleaning, airport. A new device helps B+N’s cleaners easily and efficiently handle even the heaviest airport traffic. With the i-mop machines the cleaning crew can keep the bathroom floors almost completely free of viruses and bacteria, even with thousands of passengers visiting daily.

Keeping clean and safe is becoming easier

The airport team of B+N Reference Zrt. has successfully introduced the i-mop cleaning machine into everyday use. The T2 terminal currently has seven i-mop machines in operation, which have been helping the B+N cleaning team for two months to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the face of increasing passenger traffic.

“With the new i-mop device, we can keep the floors of the washrooms almost completely free of viruses and bacteria, which is extremely important at the airport, where thousands of passengers visit every day” – Krisztina Jakab, B+N’s regional manager.

The device can be used quickly and easily, which is an excellent advantage in the airport environment. After the training, the airport cleaning team quickly got used to using the i-mop and confidently uses it even during peak traffic periods.

B+N’s cleaning team can work efficiently even in peak traffic

The B+N specialist emphasized that with the i-mop the cleaning crew can keep the bathroom floors almost entirely free of viruses and bacteria, which is extremely important at the airport, where thousands of passengers visit daily.

Passenger traffic at the airport has increased by 30% this summer compared to 2019, which is a huge challenge for B+N. The new tool will help the cleaning staff to keep up with the increasing passenger traffic.

Positive feedback from both the airport and passengers

Airport operators have also responded positively to the launch of i-mop. The significant reduction in cleaning time and improved cleanliness have also contributed to increased passenger comfort. The cleaning intervals in the toilets have been reduced to a fraction of what they used to be, so the terminal area is always clean and hygienic.

“The feedback from our cleaning staff is sensational when they have a machine in their hands; we see them smile more! Since our staff have been using this new tool, they have been getting more compliments and nods of appreciation from passengers. And this is probably one of the most important parts of this job, as constant positive feedback makes our employees more motivated”- says Jakab.

Plans for the future

Although the new machines are currently only operating at the T2 terminal, B+N plans to expand the machine park.

“We would like to purchase additional i-mop devices to take advantage of the technology in other areas of the airport,” said Jakab.

With the increased passenger traffic, B+N’s 190-person airport cleaning team has performed excellently over the past months, responsible for around 89,000 sqm of space. One of the results and recognition of the cleaning team’s work is enhancing Hungary’s reputation.
